The Story of Us: Episode 1

This is the Story of Us: Episode 1:

As most of you know, I am a wedding photographer that captures adventurous and intimate images for my couples.

As a part of my wedding consultations, I always ask my couples about their own love story. And it’s is my favorite part of the meeting. But I rarely tell you all about my own love story.

So for the next 7 weeks, I am going to start a short series of blog posts about the story of us! If you don’t know, I am recently married to my better half, AJ.

Fun Facts about AJ:

🌿 he is a concrete finisher. He basically plays in the mud all day.

🌿 he is actually 2 years younger than me

🌿 he enjoys being outside, building things, and getting his hands dirty.

🌿 sometimes he feels like he is a classic grumpy old man stuck in a 20-year-old body

🌿 his favorite food is burgers. His favorite color is blue.

Today’s is all about how we met! Hold on tight. Here we go.

How We Met

It was Sunday. I just got done teaching abroad in Spain and I was filling in for my mom at her restaurant while she was recovering from surgery. The restaurant was packed and I was working the lunch rush by myself. While I was frantically running around with my head chopped off, these two boys came walking in. I told them to find a seat and I would be with them shortly.

Honestly, I wasn’t the best server in the world and barely said two words to the boys. Other than taking their order and asking them if they need anything periodically. He ordered a Mountain Dew….the drink of the Gods. And a Shipwreck Burger with fries.

When they were finished eating, I brought them their separate tabs and told them to have a great rest of their day. As they left, they both waved goodbye. I the same.

As I was clearing off their table, I noticed some writing on his tab. On the tab, he wrote: “Call me” and left me his number. I also saw that he left me a $20 tip on his $12 meal. He must have thought I did something right at least.

I just started laughing and even snapped a picture. Sent it to my friends with the caption….”yeah right dude…good try….thanks for the $20 tip though.”

Being the good person my parents raised though, I did text him and thanked him for the gracious tip. He asked me out. I turned him down. Go figure. And that was honestly supposed to be the end of the story. But thankfully it is not.

Tune in for Episode 2 releasing next week to find out what happened next.
