Cannon Lake Wedding | Ben and Kelsey | Faribault, Minnesota

As I drove up to the Dead End Hideaway on Cannon Lake for the wedding of Kelsey and Ben, I was filled with joy. I always love it when I get to spend my day photographing beautiful couples and their union. And I love it, even more, when it is surrounded by a lake.

I fell in love with the love between Ben and Kelsey when they traveled in for their engagement session. They are two of the sweetest, most thoughtful people, and they are so much fun to be around. They have this sense of calm between the two of them, allowing everyone else around them to ease and just be.

Before they were even born, God made each of them, destined for one another.

The wind was blowing. The heat was rising. Ben looking off into the lake as he waited for his brides tap on the shoulder. Kelsey was eloquently gliding down the dock, waiting to take her first look at her soon to be husband. I am tucked behind the overarching trees at the foot of the dock. They both take a deep breath. Then she taps him on the shoulder. He turns. And the biggest smile overtook his face as he saw his bride for the first time. They hugged. They kissed. Twirled. And just reveled in this moment. They were becoming husband and wife!

Their love story

Ben and Kelsey met while they were both in high school, but reconnected after both of them had graduated college. Life has a funny way of doing that. For their first date, they went to Oscar’s in Waseca. Not wanting the night to end, they went to Ben’s house, where we played board games and watched movies. Their love story continued to unfold until Ben planned to propose. Under the twinkle lights, snow, and magic of Christmas, Ben popped the question at the Kiwanis Lights in Mankato. A truly magical place.

One moment that they will never forget while they started the story of them was in August of 2019. Kelsey had just had emergency surgery. But when Ben came to visit her after she was back in her room, he fainted and also had to go to the ER. His teeth finally got fixed on the 1st of July in 2020. Kelsey’s mom had to commemorate this memory by taking an awesome picture of both of them in the ER. What a way to start their engagement.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

Ben and Kelsey, thank you for trusting me to capture your beautiful day! It may have been the hottest day of the year thus far, but I had a blast with you two and loved every minute of it. I can’t wait for you to see all the photos, but for now, here’s just a few of my many favorites! Until next year, enjoy this time being husband and wife.
