New Prague engagement photos are some of my absolute favorites to photograph because this area offers so much natural beauty while still feeling quiet, relaxed, and genuine. When couples ask me where they should have their engagement session, I always love helping them find a location that feels like them—somewhere they can slow down, laugh together, and enjoy this season of life before their wedding day arrives.
As a Minnesota engagement photographer, I am always drawn to locations that allow the focus to stay on the couple. I love spaces with movement, natural textures, and scenery that feels timeless rather than overly staged. The prairie grass moving in the wind, a quiet gravel road, golden sunlight filtering through the trees, or a peaceful lake backdrop all create the perfect setting for images that feel romantic, natural, and true to who you are.
New Prague engagement sessions are especially beautiful because the area offers so many different landscapes within a short distance. Whether you love the idea of wide-open countryside views, a romantic lake setting, or a quiet prairie landscape, there are so many options to create an engagement session that feels personal.
One of my favorite ways to make your engagement session even more memorable is to turn it into a full date night. You are already dressed up, spending intentional time together, and celebrating your relationship—why not continue the evening with a delicious meal, a drink, or a fun activity afterward?
Below are some of my favorite engagement photo locations in New Prague, Minnesota, along with ideas for making your session into a night you will remember.
The Nature Center off Alton Avenue are perfect for couples who love a simple, natural, countryside feel. This location has everything I look for when choosing an engagement session location: beautiful textures, open space, and a peaceful atmosphere where couples can relax and focus on each other.
One of my favorite features of this location is the quiet gravel road surrounded by tall prairie grass. There is something timeless about a gravel road—it creates a feeling of adventure and togetherness while giving couples space to walk, talk, laugh, and simply enjoy being together.
Throughout different seasons, the prairie landscape changes beautifully. During certain times of the year, seasonal wildflowers bloom throughout the area, adding soft pops of color and extra texture to your images. The combination of tall grasses, open fields, and natural elements creates a relaxed setting that feels very Minnesota.
This location is especially beautiful for couples who want engagement photos that feel:
– Romantic and natural
– Relaxed and unposed
– Inspired by the outdoors
– Simple and timeless
For outfits, I love when couples lean into the natural setting. Flowy dresses, neutral tones, soft textures, and earthy colors photograph beautifully against the prairie landscape.

Cedar Lake Park offers a completely different feel while still keeping that natural Minnesota charm. If you love the idea of water, open space, and romantic scenery, this is such a beautiful option.
One of my favorite parts of this location is the willow tree. There is something incredibly romantic about a large, flowing willow tree near the water. It creates a soft, peaceful backdrop that feels almost like a scene from a movie.
The lakefront views, gravel road, and seasonal wildflowers give this location so much variety. We can capture quiet moments by the water, walking together along the road, or enjoying the open landscape during golden hour.
Cedar Lake Park is perfect for couples who want a location that feels:
– Peaceful and romantic
– Connected to nature
– A little more adventurous
– Soft and dreamy
This location changes throughout the year, which makes it beautiful in every season. Spring brings fresh greenery, summer brings wildflowers and warm sunsets, fall adds beautiful color, and even the quietness of winter can create a stunning backdrop.

Cedar Lake Group Camp and Prairie is my personal favorite because this location feels like stepping into the countryside while still being close to New Prague.
A quiet gravel road winds through tall prairie grass before opening into wide fields that feel peaceful and endless. This location has such a beautiful simplicity to it. Nothing feels distracting, which means the focus stays exactly where it should be—you and your relationship.
The open fields are especially beautiful during golden hour when the warm sunlight moves across the prairie grass and creates that soft, glowing feeling I love so much in my photography.
The cabins add another unique element to this location, giving the setting a cozy, rustic feel. It is a wonderful choice for couples who love the outdoors and want their engagement photos to feel natural, intentional, and full of movement.
This location is perfect for couples who want:
– Wide-open scenery
– Romantic sunset photos
– A peaceful countryside feel
– A more adventurous engagement session
Some of my favorite images come from simply walking down the gravel road together, holding hands, laughing, and enjoying the moment. Those small interactions are often what create the most meaningful photographs.

Your New Prague engagement photos are more than just a photo session—they are a chance to slow down and celebrate your relationship.
Wedding planning can become busy quickly. Between choosing vendors, making decisions, and preparing for your wedding day, it is easy to forget to simply enjoy being engaged.
Your engagement session gives you the opportunity to get dressed up, spend intentional time together, reminisce about your first date, and celebrate all of the memories that brought you to this moment.
So why not make a whole evening out of it?
After your engagement session, continue the celebration with dinner, drinks, or a fun stop together. Here are a few of my favorite New Prague date night recommendations.

Your engagement session should feel like more than just checking another wedding task off your list. It should feel like a date, an adventure, and a reminder of why you are getting married in the first place.
As a photographer, my goal is always to create an experience where you feel comfortable, connected, and completely yourselves. Whether we are walking through prairie grass, standing beside a quiet lake, or exploring a gravel road at sunset, the most important part of your engagement photos will always be the two of you.
If you are planning a New Prague engagement session and are looking for a photographer who will help you choose the perfect location and create images that feel natural and timeless, I would love to work with you.
