Chelsea + Josiah | A Rustic Western Wedding | Waseca, MN

Chelsea and Josiah’s rustic western wedding day was one of those celebrations that felt completely, perfectly them; laidback, rustic, and full of laughter, boots, and heartfelt joy. From their ceremony at St. Paul Lutheran Church to the lively, unforgettable reception on their family farm, their day was full of the kind of moments you hope never to forget.

And I’ll tell you right now—their guests definitely got on that dance floor.

From Facebook Messages to Forever

Chelsea and Josiah have one of those classic “mutual friends turned forever” stories. After hanging out one night, Josiah messaged Chelsea on Facebook, and they’ve been talking ever since. Their first date was a low-key dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings, and their connection only grew stronger from there.

One of my favorite stories they shared was from their very first hangout: Chelsea was so nervous, she accidentally spilled Josiah’s full Monster energy drink all over his sweatshirt right in the middle of the mall. While it totally embarrassed her at the time, it became one of those funny “remember when” moments that now feels like such a sweet start to their story.

The Proposal: Overlooking the Hills of South Dakota

Josiah proposed during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, an annual tradition they’ve shared for nine years. On the last day of the rally, just the two of them made one final stop at Pactola Lake. As they stood overlooking the water, Josiah pointed out some wildlife (which Chelsea couldn’t find), and when she turned around, he was down on one knee. “Do you wanna get married?!” he asked.

Chelsea thought he was joking at first, until she saw the look on his face. Turns out, Josiah had been holding onto that ring for two years, just waiting for the right time. It couldn’t have been more perfect.

A Ceremony Rooted in Love

They said “I do” at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Their son played the very important role of ring bearer, which made the day even more special for everyone.

Chelsea looked absolutely radiant in her western-inspired lace gown from The Silhouette in Easton. The fitted bodice, intricate lace details, and her long veil made for such a striking look. Her bridesmaids wore navy blue dresses from Birdy Grey, each one styled to fit their personalities. Josiah and his groomsmen kept it classic in grey suits from Graif Clothing.

Farm-Style Fun at Home

After the ceremony, everyone headed out to Chelsea and Josiah’s family farm for the reception, and let me just say, it couldn’t have been a more perfect venue for them. Hosting the celebration at their home gave them complete freedom to create the rustic, laidback, Western wedding they envisioned.

The rustic wedding details, open space, and good vibes made it feel like the ultimate summer celebration. And in true family fashion, all of the desserts were homemade by aunts Julie, Rachel, and Shelly, a delicious collaboration that gave everything a cozy, personal touch.

Chelsea + Josiah, You Did It!

Chelsea and Josiah, thank you for trusting me to capture your day. Your celebration was filled with so much love, fun, and authenticity, it felt like one big backyard party in the best possible way. I loved every moment, from your sweet ceremony to the dance floor, and especially the way you made your wedding truly your own.

Wishing you years of joy, adventure, and plenty more wild memories (and maybe fewer spilled energy drinks 😄). Congratulations again!!
