What an incredible day Jessi and Austin’s Refuge Golf Club wedding turned out to be! Set against the charming backdrop of Oak Grove, MN, their day was filled with love, elegance, and thoughtful details that truly reflected their unique bond.
A Stormy Start with a Sunny Twist
They say rain on your wedding day is good luck, and Jessi and Austin were certainly showered with it—quite literally! The morning began with storms rolling through, and the sky was heavy with clouds as everyone got ready. Despite the weather, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and anticipation. The couple remained calm and positive, trusting that the day would unfold perfectly, and they were absolutely right.
As the time for photos approached, something magical happened—the clouds parted, and the sun began to shine brightly, casting a golden light over the entire day. It was as if the universe itself was celebrating Jessi and Austin’s union. The rest of the day unfolded under the best summer weather, making for stunning outdoor photos at The Refuge Golf Club.
The Ceremony: A Family Tradition
The ceremony took place at Elk River Lutheran Church, a venue that holds deep meaning for both Jessi and Austin. This wasn’t just any church; it’s their family church, filled with memories and history. As Jessi walked down the aisle in her intricate lace wedding dress from the Bridal Aisle, paired with a long, elegant veil, Austin looked at his soon-to-be bride filled with love and awe. Austin, looked dashing in his black suit with a red paisley vest and bow tie.
Jessi’s burgundy-clad bridesmaids and Austin’s groomsmen in their coordinating grey suits and red vests looked absolutely stunning against the backdrop of the Mississippi River and the summer evening.
Their love story is one for the books. Jessi and Austin met back in 2012 during high school when they were both in the marching band. For five years, they were good friends soon realizing that what they had was something even more special. Their first date was a classic—dinner and a movie—but it was the proposal that really melted my heart. Austin popped the question while they were walking around Minnehaha Falls, a moment as picturesque as it was heartfelt.
A Thoughtful and Elegant Reception
The reception at The Refuge Golf Club was nothing short of breathtaking. Jessi and Austin chose this venue because it had yet another special significance—Austin’s sister had gotten married there, and they fell in love with the elegance of the place. The Refuge Golf Club didn’t disappoint, offering a perfect blend of sophistication and warmth.
Jessi is an elementary school teacher, and she found a sweet way to include her students in her big day. Each table number was hand-drawn by one of her students, adding a personal and whimsical touch to the décor. It was such a unique way to bring a piece of her everyday life into this special occasion.
Game night enthusiasts at heart, Jessi and Austin opted for decks of cards as their guest book—a playful and personal nod to their favorite hobby. Guests loved it, and it was a fun way to leave messages and well-wishes for the newlyweds.
Golden Hour Magic
One of the most memorable moments of the day was during the golden hour. The sun, which had been shy earlier, now bathed everything in a soft, warm light. We took advantage of this beautiful setting for some portraits, wandering through the lush grounds of The Refuge Golf Club.

As the night went on, the celebrations continued both indoors on the dance floor and outdoors on the lush green as the weather couldn’t have been more perfect for an evening under the stars. Guests enjoyed the warm summer air as they danced, laughed, and celebrated Jessi and Austin’s love.
